Metacreation Lab at NeurIPS 2024 with Three Papers
The Metacreation Lab is proud to announce the presentation of three papers at the Workshop on Creativity & Generative AI during NeurIPS 2024. This prestigious conference will take place at the Vancouver Convention Centre from December 10–15, 2024.
Among the highlights is a paper on Autolume, a no-coding generative AI system, by PhD students Arshia Sobhan and Ahmed M. Abuzuraiq alongside Philippe Pasquier. Designed for artists, Autolume empowers users to train and explore their own generative models using small datasets, removing technical barriers and fostering personalized creative processes.
Meanwhile, Keon Lee and Philippe Pasquier introduce two projects on AI in music. Their work showcases musical agent systems that collaborate with human musicians in real time, enriching co-creative improvisation. In Revival, a live audiovisual performance created in collaboration with VJ Amagi, they demonstrate how AI can seamlessly blend with human artistry, offering a glimpse into the future of collaborative music and visuals.
Workshop Dates: December 14–15, 2024
Location: Convention Centre & Pinnacle Hotel, Vancouver, Canada

MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU 2024
In September, Philippe Pasquier attended the MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU 2024, contributing to the international conversation on music and technology through a talk, a panel, and a concert performance. Philippe’s talk focused on Creative AI tools for music generation, while his performance, Revival, (by the artist collective K-Phi-A) blended human and machine musicianship through artificial intelligence to produce electronic music and audio-reactive visuals.
MUSICACOUSTICA-HANGZHOU 2024, held from September 24 to 29 at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, celebrated the fusion of music and technology. The festival featured nine concerts, six international masterclasses, six avant-garde workshops, five competitions, and an annual forum, highlighting the latest trends in electronic music and the potential of AI-powered compositions.
