Pulse. Breath. Water. is an immersive virtual environment manipulated by the pulse of a participant’s breath that provokes and challenges an interaction between a user and the substantial element of the environment: water. Minimalistic symbiotic play is supported by the multi-agent system that generates sound through a negotiation (of different affective states) between agents. The behaviour and aesthetic quality of sound and visuals are the result of the system’s decisions, as long as the participant is consent, present, and breathes.
Exposing the body through computation is an interdisciplinary media art exhibition that presents works by artists whose creative practice challenges conventional understanding of movement, perception, body and computation. The artworks include multimedia installations, performative interventions, Virtual Reality, interactive sound installations, generative art, and more.
The exhibition opens at 5pm on Thursday, March 10th, at ONE Art Space, (23 Warren Street, NYC), and runs through Saturday, March 12th. scores + traces represents a partnership between the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, LIMS®, one of the leading world organizations for the in-depth studies of human behavior, and the movingstories project, which scaffolds movement experience through the design of digital tools for movement, meaning and interaction.
